Good to know:
Squealing is caused by activation of the braking system and the resultant vibrations. These vibrations generate sound waves, which are audible within a certain frequency range. Since all unsprung masses influence activation of the system, the frequency shifts due to changes within the system. The factors involved include tyre pressure, the securing of the brake caliper, the condition of the brake disc, and perfect functioning of the hydraulic system. The speed at which the vehicle is travelling when braking begins also has an effect on the frequency range.
